Griffith Swans Australian Football Netball Club

Swanies Honour Board

2003 Riverina Football League Premiers

The drought is over !! The Griffith Swans after 35 years of Finals Failures have finally won its 1st Flag since 1968. The Swans had previously won Major League Flags in 1952 & 68 in the old South West League. This is the clubs first RFL Flag. A crowd of 3,000 mostly from the M.I.A. witnessed 73 point drubbing of the Bulldogs.
There was keen interest in the game up to halftime. In the 3rd quarter the Swans kicked 3 quick goals to put the game beyond doubt.
Most supporters in the ground expected one of Turvey Park's amazing comebacks. In 1987 the Bulldogs came from 8 goals down to beat Wagga by 2 points. Turvey got the first goal from the bounce and things look ominous. But right from the bounce the Swannies replied and broke the Dogs back and then raced away with the game.
