Text Box: The Hawks were originally known as Gumly Gumly Gorillas and played in the Wagga and District Football League.

In 1959 Gumly Gumly became East Wagga and commenced playing in the Central Riverina League.

They won their 1st Reserves Premiership in 1960 defeating Junee 7.6.48 to 2.3.15.

The next Reserves Grandfinal was in 1966 when the Hawks lost to Army 8.13.61 to 5.6.36. After this time the Hawks won many Reserves titles. Check out the Honour Board for details

The Hawks played their first 1st Grade Grandfinal in 1967 when they were defeated by Army 16.18.124 to 4.5.29 before a large of 2,000 at Junee.

In 1968 the Hawks won their first CRL Premiership beating Junee 7.16.58 to 6.5.41.

1969 & 1970 were losses to Army 
1972 was the Hawks 2nd title again beating Army at Robertson Oval, Wagga.

1973 the Hawks lost to Cootamundra
1975 lost to Barellan

In 1976 the Hawks won their 3rd Title beating Cootamundra in the 1st Grand Final Played at Maher Oval.

In 1977 the Hawks moved to the Farrar League.

In 1979 the Hawks won the double the 1sts and Reserves Grandfinals.

In 1982 the Hawks were credited Major league status with admittance to the Riverina Football League.

1982 was to be their most famous year as were the  first team to take out an RFL Premiership. They defeated Coolamon in a thriller by 5 points  12.8.80 to 10.15.75 before 6,500 people at Narrandera Sports Ground.

That was their 1st and only RFL Premiership.
They played a draw with Coolamon in 1983 and lost the replay by 41 points.

Their last Grandfinal was in 2001 where they suffered the worst ever defeat in a Grandfinal going down to Wagga Tigers 168 to 68.

After struggling for numbers in 2002 & 2003 East Wagga—Kooringal became the Eastern Hawks. This was a decision to move the club forward in a new direction
